WHAT IS WRIGHT HOUSE
OF FASHION?
Wright House is a non-profit organization that inspires and engages youth in collaborative partnerships with the fashion design community. We create opportunities for youth to build their skills in leadership, teamwork, and citizenship through creative expression. Our mission is to empower underrepresented populations with design, fashion, and sustainable principles as vehicles for change so that we develop more conscious citizens who can then contribute positively to their schools, communities, and the world.

Our mission is to build an educational community to unlock the talents of diverse creatives. Our Vision is an equitable world for ALL and our values are Love, Knowledge, Freedom, Belonging, and Creativity.
OUR WHY
Youth in every community need spaces where they can show up authentically. Liberation spaces improve social, cultural, and educational opportunities for young Black, and Indigenous fashion artists. When arts education is underfunded and overlooked, it directly impacts the community. When the community is affected negatively, everyone loses. We are stepping up to make real change and add to the creative community.

Founded by Andre Wright
Designer, activist, visionary, community builder, and world traveler who has dedicated his life to the underrepresented. A Co-Founder of Humanize My Hoodie, Andre tirelessly worked to develop and grow this global fashion activism movement, designing hoodies for rappers, Black liberation leaders, allies, and Black youth. Andre has also created and staged fashion shows and workshops nationally, educating thousands about the power of fashion to inspire, empower and spark meaningful conversations. Andre' was recently named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in 2021. Additionally, Andre was honored and awarded the Iowa City Area Development Designing Our Future-Sizzle Award in 2022 for being a Community Champion of Economic Development. Andre's work has been featured at New York Fashion Week and promoted by Politico, NPR, Target, Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, Thisis50, Facebook, and Foot Action.

Works at the Iowa City Community school district as apart of the equity team. Recently finished her dissertation on Black liberation.
